The ugly girl

Cuando vi esta falda en H&M por primera vez me enamoré de ella, es de “seda”, palabra que yo en mi caso utilizo para decir que es suave, tiene vuelo y ¡es VERDE! Es perfecta pensé.  Sin embargo, cuando llegó a casa las cosas cambiaron, ¿con qué la combino? Y sobre todo…¿en qué ocasión?

Durante más de un año estuvo abandonada sin piedad en el fondo de mi armario, compartiendo percha con otras dos faldas y viendo como el resto de sus compañeras salían a bailar mientras ella se quedaba ahí, sola y olvidada, como la niña con aparato para la columna, enormes brackets y gafas redondas de las películas de instituto.

Sin embargo, como en toda buena película de adolescentes que se precie, a la niña fea solo hay que soltarle el pelo y ponerle lentillas para que se convierta en la reina del baile, solo necesita una oportunidad. Así que, siguiendo el ejemplo de grandes e inspiradores clásicos como Chicas Malas o No es otra estúpida película americana, cogí mi falda, le di un jersey nuevo, un poco de pintalabios y, de repente, se convirtió en una bonita y elegante princesa. Si es que Disney está en todas partes, dibidiba dibidu!

When I first saw this skirt in H&M I fell in love with it: is made of “silk” -word that I use as synonymous of smooth-, is very full and…is green! It’s perfect, I thought. However, when it arrived home things changed. ¿How do I combine it? And more important point…¿which is the perfect occasion for wearing it?

For more than a year she was left without mercy in the back of my wardrobe, sharing hanger with another two skirts and watching the rest of her partners going out to dance. In the meanwhile, she was there alone by herself, like the ugly girl with cervical appliances, huge braces and round glasses from American teen movies.

But, as in all good teen movies, the ugly girl only needs to wear her hair down and buy some contact lens to become the prom queen, she only needs one chance. So, following the example of brilliant and inspiring classics as Mean Girls or Not another teen movie, I took my skirt, gave her a new jersey and a touch of lipstick and suddenly, she became a pretty princess. Disney is everywhere guys, dibidibadibidu!
